Jazz Journalism (25 summative each)
Using The Great Gatsby, write a jazz journalism article (basically a gossip column/ tabloid article) about something that happened in the novel. You will write a column for chapters 1-3, 4-6, and 7-9.
Specific:
Use at least one quote from the novel as your “source” of the gossip
This is meant to be written in a sensationalist style (attention grabbing, over the
top, dramatic, focuses on the personal life of others and sheds light onto the things
people would be trying to hide/ not want brought to the public’s attention)
Create an intriguing headline to catch a reader’s attention (think of the tabloids that grab your attention in-line at the grocery store)
Include an APPROPRIATE attention grabbing image (with a link for citation)
At least half a page of double spaced 12pt typed writing
Write in an entertaining manner that holds your readers attention: focus on purpose
