The rationale for this question
You will have already carried out a reflection using a recognised reflective framework in one of your formative tasks and your tutor will already have provided you with feedback.
You may also have previously been writing in the first person but will now need to write in the 3rd person. This is a vital exercise in preparing you for academic writing you may have to carry out further into your studies.
In creating your new “plan of action” or the “what now” part of your previous reflection, you are now being asked to explain the evidence base for your actions or future actions in a similar situation. In essence, what will your new ‘gold standard’ of care be going forward?
First reflections are often descriptive and technical – this essay will allow you to learn how to critically analyse how you can improve the quality of care you provide by using new theories and concepts, emerging research, literature, guidelines and legislation.
