Research question: How do participants experience becoming an undergrad student at UEL?
1.TITTLE ( should be clear about the topic of research; should make reference to the method used for this analysis; could make reference to the results)
2.ABSTRACT- 150words NOT TO BE INCLUDED IN THE WORDCOUNT ( briefly summarizes what this report is about; should be explicit about the research topic; the procedure followed to collect and analyze the data and it should offer a minimum insight regarding the results)
3.INTRODUCTION-300words ( should offer a literature review of the topic of research include at least 3 to 4 references; should offer a statement about the need for studying this issue qualitatively(rational for study) and should offer a clear statement of the research question.
4.METHOD-300words (should provide a brief overview of what qualitative methodology is; should offer a brief overview of what epistemology is in general terms before explaining the particular epistemological position adopted for data analysis:constructionism or critical realism; should offer clear demographic information of the population of the study;
Should briefly describe the technique of data collection as well as the procedure of collecting the data( semi-structured interviews, where conducted, duration, recorded and transcribed); should clearly identify the analytic strategy by explaining the steps followed during the analysis; should include a brief statement of ethical protocol & reflexivity statement.
5.ANALYSIS -1000words and not including extracts( analysis should be about becoming a university student;
To be structured around a minimum of 3 themes using creative and indicative theme titles; each theme to include 2-3 extracts and extracts are not be included in the wordcount;
There should be a balance between the extract of both interviews; usual criteria for a good analysis applies-coherency, narrative flow, relevance, linking of themes; it is particularly important to analyze rather that describe the data. Make sure you understand the difference.
6.CONCLUSION-300words (should briefly highlight key finding/s; should offer a considered statemet about a key implication of findings(this is my analysis but so what?); should end with a brief reflexive statement about the advantage and limitation of the chosen methodology as a research tool.
