Paper 3 (or Project 3) should be between 700 and 800 words. For this paper, you will first visit a museum’s online collection and see how the museum creates captions/blurbs about their featured objects. You will then select 3-4 works of art from underrepresented groups or people (however you define this term).
You will then write captions/blurbs for your chosen objects as if you were creating a digital exhibition. Instead of objects, you could also do architecture by underrepresented architects.
Finally, you could do movies or television shows by creators you believe deserve more attention. If you do movies or television, you can use still images or YouTube clips in lieu of a photo of art.
Each caption/blurb should be 200-300 words (for a total of 700-800 words). This written content will briefly provide your reader with factual information about these objects/buildings/movies/television shows.
You should also explain why these works of art are important (artistically, culturally, etc.). You should also discuss why these underrepresented works of art deserve more attention. This assignment is designed to assess critical thinking: how art is collected and represented.
