Children’s Lit Bibliography
This final project is designed to help you reflect on your learning in English 124: Children’s Literature. In this class, we read a wide variety of texts written for children and young adults in different genres. We discussed child development and literacy.
We analyzed the literary elements that make children’s books effective and stand the test of time. We also discussed diversity, representation, and gaps in the children’s lit cannon. At the end of each chapter of our textbook, there is a bibliography for suggested reading.
Task:
1.) Create a bibliography of 20-25 children’s books for a specific audience. Your texts might have a similar theme or some commonality. Your bibliography should be alphabetized by author’s last name and include the title of the book and author’s name at minimum.
Remember that book titles are italicized.
2.) Write a 1-page analysis for 3 of the books on your bibliography (That means one page for each book.)
3.) Write a 2-3-page cover letter for your bibliography. Why did you choose the books that you did?
What is the purpose or theme of your bibliography? Who is the intended audience?
Your portfolio should be organized in the above order with the bibliography first, the book analyses second, and the cover letter at the end.
