Communication questions
1. What is at least one positive emotion you are appealing to in your speech? List what emotion it is and describe how you plan to appeal to this emotion in your speech (try to stick to the emotions mentioned in your book and lecture)
2. What is at least one negative emotion you are appealing to in your speech? List what emotion it is and describe how you plan to appeal to this emotion in your speech (try to stick to the emotions mentioned in your book and lecture)?
3. What is one emotional appeal you find you yourself are most often persuaded by and why? (guilt, compassion, anger, fear, happiness, etc.).
4. How do you plan to establish Ethos (credibility and goodwill) in your speech? (don’t just say with a credibility and relevance statement–BE SPECIFIC)
5. Comment on someone else’s post. Read through how they plan to use pathos and ethos. If you feel the appeals they plan to use will be effective, let them know that (and why you think they’ll be effective). If not, give them suggestions for which appeals they may want to include instead.
