Here are some sample broad topics, you may choose your own to discuss the topic;
1) Indoor air quality and environmental justice
2) Pesticides exposure and resultant illnesses: current data by region and/or time
3) Vector control- success of mosquito control programs in developing countries
4) Environmental health policy research on mercury contaminated fish
5) Status of exposure to hazardous waste in USA/other countries
6) Water quality challenges – disinfection resistance, ozone being expensive to produce etc.
7) Radon exposure and lung cancer status in the US
8) lead toxicity among children-current status in US
9) Mercury toxicity among children- current status in US
10) Contamination of ground water from industrial waste
11) Bioacumulation of heavy metals from occupational exposures
12) Water quality and environmental justice

14) Sound pollution and health effects
15) Gene environmental interaction and cancer formation
16) Review of vector control programs in recent times

Narrowing down the topic: For example, you already know what bioaccumulation of heavy metals such as mercury is, now you want to narrow you focus. Possible exploration areas within the area of bioaccumulation include:
1) the type of heavy metals in which it is common but not studied well (only few papers on them),
2) bioaccumulation effects on human body from heavy metals that newly reported in the literature (look for the most recent papers),
3) any newly identified sources of exposure to humans, and
4) new technologies or control measures tested to prevent their exposure. You can write a paper on any of these four exploration areas.
You will know about these exploration areas when you search articles using different keywords or from references of the articles you found from using article search key words. You can use different key words taking the clue from different type of papers that are displayed during the article search. For example a basic key word such as this should provide a plethora of articles in different exploratory areas:
bioaccumulation of mercury
Focus on one of the exploratory areas and keep exploring within that area and then sub areas finally narrowing down to considerable depth of the topic. (for example, your journey should look like this:
bioaccumulation of mercury bioaccumulation of mercury and pregnancy bioaccumulation of mercury and developmental anomalies among newborns Scope for health education to prevent developmental anomalies among newborns from mercury infiltrated fish.
This final topic is the topic you want to explore. Find seven articles in this topic and take it from there.
