Topic 2: Need for Preparedness
As outlined in the readings, communicating the need for preparedness can be a very daunting task. During Hurricane Katrina the local news channels showed thousands of residents stranded at the Superdome.

Some theorists argued that the local, state, and federal governments should have played a larger role in the evacuation process, while others argued that the individual residents should have taken proper precautions.
