This is a custom that lives between elders and their successors. With the new age of media upon us, many cultures have adapted to the new changes of the modern world and some have chosen to keep their traditions strictly viva voce.
However, the pandemic has caused many restrictions within all communities, as the dire necessity for social distancing has brought isolation amongst the world. Specifically, the Indigenous communities have especially taken a large toll from the pandemic as most of their knowledge of their history and traditions lives through their elders, whom of which are falling ill due to the spread of Covid-19. Thus, many communities are in fear of losing their history as elders are dying. As a result, many have taken to social media to spread information on their culture, in order to preserve and retain their culture for future generations. For this reason, social media proves to be a tool that helps individuals, of all age groups, stay connected.
