Assignment 4
You will select two pieces of literature: two short stories, two plays, or two poems (of some length), and demonstrate how they treat the same theme.

You will write an essay relying upon evidence, knowledge of your particular topic, essentially following the format found on p. 90 of your text.

You will include a list of “Works Cited” per the examples from your text, using the MLA writing style guidelines.

Assignment 4
Find opposing views to yours and demonstrate that they have weaknesses or fail to acknowledge some point, etc.

The more famous works will have numerous articles written about them. You could also create your own opposing view (the pros and cons) of your thesis and discuss them.

Assignment 4
Moving from expository writing to argumentative writing will be a topic studied further, but for now shape your writing to reflect that of your view or thesis is the appropriate one. Again, distinguish opposing views if you find them. That is, find “chinks in their armor” that you can refute.
