Cultural Disability
There are a variety of other experiences and philosophies other cultures perceive about disabilities.
You will conduct research on a country of your choice to examine what the cultural views of disabilities are in that country, the historical views of disabilities in that country, and what services are rendered, etc?
Your power point presentation needs to be on a country other than the United States.
This power point should contain references to substantiate your research.The minimum references needed are 3.
Items to include in your power point:
1) Introduce your country. (A picture, geographical location, population, etc.)
2) Explain the historical perspective of disabilities in that country.
3) Are their services offered to individuals diagnosed with a disability in that country? (In the United States we have several services offered to individuals diagnosed with a disability. Those services vary state-to-state.
Most states have Easter Seals, Boys and Girls clubs, local chapters/meetings of support networks for family's with a child diagnosed with Autism (Autism Speaks) or Downs Syndrome, Special Olympics, and Social Services. In California, we have specialized services offered through the Regional Centers).
