This semester, there are two fundamental tasks to pursue when critically reading philosophy: (i.) figuring out what the author is saying and, (ii.) assessing whether it is right or not. These two tasks are crucial for your midterm assignment. Of course, it is essential that part (i.) be done well for the entire essay to be successful. However, this part of your essay should be written in a manner that is especially concise — and certainly no more than half the length of the entirety of your essay.
This assignment requires you to provide strong reasoning for your argument, so it is important to provide sufficient and strong evidence for your claims (including textual evidence). Providing examples in a powerful manner can often bolster your argumentation.
It is necessary that you cite any explicit or implicit reference or information from the course texts or any other materials that you consult.
