As a forensic computer investigator or computer technician employed by a private sector company, the ability to recover deleted files from a computer’s drive is an important aspect of the job.
On the criminal justice side, often criminals will intentionally deleted files from their computers, external hard drives, cellular devices or tablets in an effort to conceal or destroy incriminating evidence which could be used against them.
It is extremely important for investigators to have the ability to recover these deleted files in order to further an investigation, prove criminal activity and the ability to present that recovered data in court as evidence.
In the private sector, an employee could accidently delete an important file or files may inadvertently be deleted or destroyed through technical or operation glitches in the system. Private sector technicians play an important role in recovering these files for companies.
INSTRUCTIONS
For this assignment, you have been hired as the Manager of the new Digital Forensic Unit and Laboratory at the Liberty Corporation. This is a corporation that develops financial software. During your first week, a desperate employee calls because she has accidentally deleted crucial files from her hard drive and cannot retrieve them from the Recycle Bin.
The following format should be followed:
• 2-3 pages in length
• Title Pages, Table of Contents (does not need to be included for this assignment) or Reference sections are excluded from this length
• Assignment must be submitted in APA format
• Must include a minimum of two (2) citations in APA format
