The interview questions are structured to allow the participant’s interview to evolve naturally (Patton, 2015). The semi-structured questions allow the participant to direct the conversation and provide rich data on their experience (Moustakas, 1994). During the interview, pre-service course instructors will be introduced to the Dr. Geneva Gay’s (2002) five essential elements of culturally responsive teaching. The participants will be asked about their knowledge of the five essential elements of culturally responsive teaching and how they can relate their instructional approaches to this theory.
