This assignment is the first part of our Transition Project paper. Please use Microsoft word (email me if this presents a problem), complete sentences and paragraph formatting. All three sections will eventually be housed in the SAME DOCUMENT.
Use the headings from the rubric in your paper (this helps me find the info quickly and helps as a check for you to make sure everything is included). Be sure to follow APA 7 guidelines. This means you DO need a cover page. Do your best with the APA and I’ll help you along the way
PURPOSE: The purpose of this assignment is to gain experience transition planning for a student. Note: these assignments are not part of an actual IEP transition plan. We will complete one of those forms together. These assignments are more about moving you through a thinking process as you plan for students.
RELEVANCE: All educators are typically involved in the IEP planning process at some point—even general education teachers and related service providers. And most educators will have students with disabilities included in their classrooms. Special educators work as a team with families, students, and a wide range of school-based professionals (e.g., administrators, general educators, related services providers, school counselors) to plan and implement IEPs and to develop transition plans.
PART 1: Assessment/Student characteristics
This section focuses on (a) identifying assessment tools that align with specific transition domains, evaluating assessment tools and their strengths and weaknesses, and modifying assessment tools to fit the needs of a wide range of students.
