Research Study 1
The research by Khadeemian et al., (2020) seeks to define how Orem’s nursing theory affects patients with hypertension. The researchers indicate that improving the quality of life for patients with hypertension is crucial.
These researchers selected eighty patients and grouped them into control groups and experimental groups. The experimental group was exposed to Orem’s nursing theory concepts with regard to their individual needs. Data was collected three times.
The first time was before using the intervention, the second time was immediately after the experiment, and the third time was eight weeks after using the intervention.
The study showed that training the patients with high blood pressure on how to care for themselves using Orem’s theory helped improve the quality of life for the patient demographic. Notably, the researchers indicated that nurses in the outpatient setting should consider using the theory to encourage their patients with hypertension to care for themselves.
