Compose an essay in which you respond to the observations of one of the essay writers in your Inquiry book (From Inquiry to Academic Writing by Stuart Greene and April Lidinsky, LCCC custom edition, 2020).
You should first choose an essay from chapters 14-19 (any essay from these chapters will do) and summarize the essay, assuming an audience who is unfamiliar with it. Then, imagine yourself as someone the writer of the essay interviews, telling your own story about the topic of the essay.
How do your personal experiences reflect the writer’s observations and what the essay says? Alternatively, how might they counter, complicate, or build on what the essay has to say?
Your task is to look at your experience in the way that the essay writer would, to notice what they would notice, to connect your relationship with the subject of the essay to the theories and topics that it considers. Your paper should be at least 1,000 words long, though well-developed responses may be much longer.
It should provide an accurate, objective summary of the chosen essay’s argument, main points, and pertinent examples. It should also explain your response to the essay—that is, your reflection on your own experiences as they relate to the essay’s ideas. You should include at least three direct quotations in proper MLA citation, and you must include an MLA works cited entry for the essay you’ve read
