The abdication of Tsar Nicholas in march 1917.
Massie Nicholas and Alexandra (1968)
He argues that the abdication came as a result of sudden decline in the Russian economy. He still says that nobody was in a position tom solve the economic crisis since in the recent years there were no improvements that were made.
If many people had this thought then the abdication would have been avoided, however that wasn’t the case but the soviets had a slogan “we want a republic” though he was not aware whether there was a revolution. The argument Robert makes contradicts the fact that Nicholas was so religious and he was misled by his counsellors who advised him on the decisions he took.
He was also inclined in his own personal issues and not issues which could help improve the economic situation of the empire. “As a member of imperial family head was distanced from common people’s mentality and he physically distance himself by residing in his estates outside the capital.”
