African American Lack of Oppurtunity
Lack of opportunities for African Americans can be defined as the state of insufficiency in the chances available to better their lives and live a decent life.
The problem of lack of opportunities for African-Americans is a serious problem that is taking a toll on the lives of African Americans.
This lack of opportunities for people with African origins in America is manifested in the following ways. The first manifestation is the kind of schools attended by a majority African Americans. The element of race segregation has resulted in students from African American families to attend poor schools that don’t give them enough exposure to their counterparts from well-performing schools.
It also manifests itself in being denied similar treatment system with their fellow whites by the police. This implies that they limited opportunity in accessing justice. This scenario is exemplified by cases of police senselessly targeting and shooting innocent black people as in the case of Michael Brown killing that happened in Ferguson.
Furthermore, a survey that was conducted immediately after the shootings returned tiny confidence level that African Americans have on the police regarding their impartiality in discharging their duties.
