Historically nation-states have been said to that they are pursuing their national self – interests in foreign policies with little or no regards to the obligations and moral responsibilities as compared to their domestic policies (Clews, 2013) Nations states hunger for the power and world dominance to assert and secure their country interests.

However, in the contemporary international relations developed countries, particularity, Western States have been adopting and emphasizing on ethics and values in foreign relations with other nation states to address humanitarian needs and interventions where there is the violation of human rights and social justice.
