To what extent does an object’s color affect it’s rate of energy transfer

Method

1. Set up the apparatus as shown in figure 1 on the appendix
2. Heat up 50ml of water around 70ºC, for each can, in a separate container (e.g. boiler)
3. Using heat resistant gloves, pour 50ml of hot water into each can (white, silver, black)
4. Measure its temperature with the temperature probe
5. On the time “0s”, the temperature is at its peak.
6. When the temperature begins to decrease start timing and record the temperatures every 30 seconds for 5 minutes.
7. Repeat at least 3 times to increase the reliability of the results by decreasing the effects of anomalies on the results
