Directions: Write a 5-10 page, typed, double-spaced essay on a topic of your choice related to the course topic.
This assignment will be completed as a guided project with weekly Module goals as listed below:
Topic: Jackie Robinson’s role in integrating Major League Baseball.
Thesis: Your essay introduction MUST identify the topic and contain a thesis statement explaining what your essay will state about the topic. Your thesis should show a relationship between your topic and cultural difference(s) and/or issues of social justice and/or equity
Example of a thesis statement: The early twentieth century fight for women’s rights gained momentum, leadership, and organizational skills from earlier reform movements in which women played leading roles.
Essay: The body of your essay will then use your research from both class text and notes and additional sources to explain and back up your answer.
For example, the essay for the above thesis statement would then explore how women had played leading roles in moral reform movements like Prohibition, birth control, & asylum reform that gave them the skills necessary to fight for rights such as suffrage, using particular women and organizations such as Margaret Sanger and the Women’s Christian Temperance Union (W.C.T.U.) as examples.
Sources: You must use two or more external sources and your essay MUST contain a references page listing your sources. You may use your course text as a source, but it will not be counted toward the source requirement.
