Then, explain how the various strategies and tactics of the campaigns in Mississippi and Selma, Alabama placed pressure on party leaders and the federal government to pass a landmark voting rights bill.
Bonus (10pts): In one paragraph, discuss how similar “Jim Crow” methods are used today by conservative lawmakers to suppress the vote despite the Voting Rights Act. In what ways are contemporary activists addressing voter suppression and black disenfranchisement. Provide specific examples.
