Scenario
The company you work for has determined there is a potential problem between the future supply of skilled workers in the region and the ability to meet the company’s forecasted demand. Therefore, senior management has decided to partner with several external institutions and launch an Apprenticeship Program.
Your department has been selected as the first site of implementation.Your department will receive those individuals participating in the apprenticeship program.
These individuals will be working along side your employees for approximately six (6) months after which time an evaluation will be done to assess the skill level of those in the apprenticeship program.Note: You are hosting the apprentices; you are not developing the overall program

1. Identify which of the five (5) Functions of Supervisors and Other Managers (Chapter 1) you would focus on first. Explain your reasoning.
2. Describe what type of goals and objectives you would need to establish for the employees who are participating in the apprentice program? Would you change any existing goals and objectives for your current employees? Why? Why Not?
3. Explain your approach in identifying and resolving any problems in achieving your departmental performance targets during the implementation of the program.
4. What resources would you require from Human Resources to make this implementation a success? What areas could they partner with you or provide guidance and assistance?
