This assignment allows students to engage in reflective practice to determine key areas of competence
that can be improved to enhance their communication. With this paper, students will demonstrate their
knowledge of written communication and effective workplace communication.
There are three parts to this essay:
1. Reflection
Using the tools you were introduced to in this course, reflect on your own communication workplace
experiences, for instance, verbal communication, listening skills, non-verbal communication. Can you
verify your ability to engage in contextually appropriate communication? Share at least two examples of
personal interactions in the workplace that supports your need for improvement.
2. Strategies
Outline at least two strategies that you intend on utilizing to address the issues that you mentioned in part 1 of this essay. For instance, communication models or behaviors that can help you to be more effective.
3. Action Plan
Create an action plan of key events and activities that you will enact over the next 6 months to acquire
the knowledge, skills, and behaviors to improve your weak areas, for instance, enroll in short courses to
develop skills, a reading plan to increase knowledge, starting a journal that will enable for reflection on
communication patterns etc.
