Discuss health consequences in children who witness abuse, and identify risk factors that could indicate significant concern for the safety of the children.
POST 2:
Describe assessment techniques that can be utilized to identify and differentiate high-risk patients and families such as high risk mothers, chronically ill and disabled people, people living with HIV/AIDS, mentally ill people, substance abusers, homeless people, immigrants and refugees.
Explain whether these techniques are commonly used in your practice area or healthcare organization.
Some example techniques are to show respect and use a positive approach, which builds trust.
Recognize the biases and prejudices that can be barriers to understanding the needs of populations.
Community and family assessments need to be grounded in trusting approaches. Heal and not necessarily fix healthcare situations.
