You are required to attempt the following questions. The length of your answer should be about 1600 words for the 1st question and 1700 words for the 2nd question.
The assignments must be typed and easy to read. Word processing is strongly recommended.
Your assignments must have the correct English spelling and the grammar and punctuation should be carefully considered so as to avoid any ambiguity or miscommunication in your argumentation. Consequently, your computer should be switched to English (UK) spelling mode.
Syntax and the precise use of words are considered essential and marks will be deducted for poor English and presentation up to a maximum of 10%.
Both questions are to be attempted.
1. Critically discuss the different approaches to risk management criteria that are adopted in the European Community. Use as a starting point the paper in the Appendix by Trbojevic and then develop the discussion from there.
2. Consider the findings over some years of Duffy and Saull in their analysis of risk and critically discuss the implications of their findings in relation to the design, operation and management of ships.
