Task: Identify a current news article and write a journal entry analyzing how your selected article reflects one or more of the key terms from chapter three of your textbook.
Your journal entry must include a clear detailed summary of your selected article, as well as a direct quote from the article to support your analysis of the connection between the Key Term and the article.
Purpose:
Use chapter concepts to explain or understand current events
Demonstrate media literacy skills
Practice using direct quotes and citation in your writing
Assignment Requirements and Grading Standards:
Minimum of 3 paragraphs in length! (each paragraph should consist of at least 5 sentences)
Microsoft Word, .docx or .pdf attachment
Article and direct quote must meet News Source Standards (see below)
Journal entry will be graded according to rubric attached to this assignment. Review the rubric carefully before beginning the assignment.
News Source Standards:
CURRENT: Published within the past 7-10 days.
Major, reputable news source. No Reddit Threads, social media posts, blog posts, YouTube channels, niche digital publications, etc.
