Chose a person from the secondary text that you read, or a famous person or a fictional character.
Write a 4 to 5 paper about the social forces that shaped their life chances. This should be a “snapshot” of their current life status and the factors that created their current SES and class in society.
Use the author’s example of his own life journey on pages 5 to 8 in the main text. Begin with the person’s grandparents, or farther back if possible and trace the family history.
Relate your thinking to 5 or 6 concepts from the main text. Underline the concepts used. (Inter generational mobility, social inequality, glass ceiling, differential socialization, feminization)
Write the paper in APA style. Use left aligned headings to organize the paper. The headings can be organized by the person’s life course stages, or by concepts from the text that apply to the person’s life.
All headings should be in bold print. Some possible examples of headings are listed below — but feel free to be more creative:
