Using information from class lectures, readings and your own research, students are expected to learn as much as possible about the topic that they have chosen to write about.

In this essay, students are expected to describe in detail the topic. For example, if you have chosen to write about children/education dealing with issues of loss during the pandemic you might consider the following: Do children grieve? How is it similar or different from how adults grieve?

How do you help children deal with loss and change? What strategies would facilitate healing?

If you choose the topic First Nations communities you might explore traditional interventions for dealing with grief and loss and how communities express and deal with grief.

What does it mean to grieve? You might talk about historical or intergenerational trauma in relation to the impact of the pandemic.

Whatever topic you choose, it would be wise to identify some questions that you need to answer.

You can start by identifying what you already know and areas that you need to know more about. In both cases, you will need to find the resources that back up what you are saying in your paper.
