The goal of the document is to create a review of expert thinking on the pre-COVID situation, post-COVID situation, and the best ideas on improving human rights and democracy now.
Sections:
1. Pre-covid assessment of human rights and democracy situation in China (inventory/provide a background on the most pressing human rights and democracy China was facing before COVID hit).
2. How covid has changed the human rights and democracy situation in china – what new challenges and opportunities have arisen
3. What new ideas, solutions, programs are being proposed on democracy and human rights programs in a POST-COVID china across the new challenges and opportunities highlighted in section 2
Format: Please use a clear section/division format of section and sub topic titling: Section 1 (sub topic abc), Section 2 (sub topics abc)
References: Please only use references from US universities, washington-based think tanks (Brookings, Council on Foreign Relations, CSIS, human rights watch, amnesty international, etc.), authors/books associated with a major US university/think tank, and news articles from major US and International press outlets (eg Guardian, New York Times, etc…)
Proposed number of sources is a minimum.
