Purpose: This assignment is intended to assess your ability to:
• Recommend improvements to reward, recognition, and performance management processes.
• Analyze methods for rewarding or recognizing performance.
• Discuss methods for addressing performance problems.
• Integrate established human resource management principles into the discussion.
• Write a business report based on 5-step critical thinking decision making model.
Overview
Download the 5-step critical thinking matrix and consider the following:
a. Step 1: Identify the problem(s) and uncertainties based on the assigned problem.
b. Step 2: Obtain information on the matrix.
c. Step 3: Make predictions about the future on the matrix.
d. Step 4: Make decisions by choosing among the alternatives on the matrix.
Your writing as a graduate student should have a clear argument with no repeated or confusing narrative.
Action Items
1- Research various methods for finding and attracting top talent, read chapter 8,11, and 12.
2- Write a 4-page business brief that covers all upcoming items:
a. Describe the methods your organization currently uses to reward, recognize, and manage the performance of its employees. Include the sources of information you would use to reward, recognize, and evaluate a subordinate’s performance.
b. Based on the readings and your personal experience, describe whether these methods are effective for enhancing both employee and business performance. Explain how you measured the effectiveness and provide specific examples on how employee and business performance is enhanced.
c. What key result areas in HR reward, recognition, and performance management has your organization set, why did they choose these metrics, and how are they doing toward meeting those metrics? Review the HR Metrics Sample .
d. Based on your research, recommend how the organization can improve its reward, recognition, and performance management processes. Explain why your recommendations would improve employee and business performance.
