DQ 3.1: Structural Interventions
Please discuss how you might use structural interventions to work with a family in which a child or adolescent is struggling with behaviour issues (e.g., school refusal or non-suicidal self-injury, as discussed in this week’s assigned journal articles). How might you take cultural considerations into account in evaluating what, if any, structural changes might be beneficial to any specific couple/family?
DQ 3.2: Video Reflections
Please comment on the videos of Structural Family Therapy and Emotion-Focused Therapy. In each case, what did you think the therapist did well? Did you see any interventions that you could imagine utilizing in your future work as a counsellor? What might you have done differently than the therapist, if working with the same case? How might you elicit client feedback to continually inform the therapeutic process and your intervention choices? How might you evaluate the client-therapist relationship on an ongoing basis?
