Individual assignment (45% of final grade)
Number of words: 2,000 word written report with appropriate analyses (not including title page, references or appendices)

This assignment will help you achieve the following learning outcomes for this subject:
• Interpret key aspects of research findings
• Prepare and present a report that includes statistical analysis and involves the presentation of data
• Work effectively in teams to produce a report.
OBJECTIVE: To prepare a data report appropriate for secondary school teachers based on The National Survey of Australian Secondary Students and Sexual Health 2013 (NSASSH).
This is an individual assignment however you will work in your allocated teams in the Workshops on activities designed to help develop the skills needed to prepare your report. These activities will include exercises that cover: data analysis; simple statistical tests; and data presentation.
As individuals you will:
Use the research questions to design your plans for the quantitative data analyses.
Describe the original study design, method, sampling strategy and population, data collection method, data variables used and the study participants (including sample size) using relevant data from the NSASSH
Describe data in both narrative and graphical formats.
Describe the methods that you use in your analyses
Conduct analyses to address your research objectives
Interpret your results and draw appropriate conclusions
Prepare a narrative summary of your findings
Formulate suitable recommendations for the secondary school
With regards to these tasks, students will:
Describe and analyse data from Table 8.6 (NSASSH)
Conduct analyses to address the research objectives that include either a t-test or χ2 to test relevant associations
Conduct a content analysis of the focus group transcript provided to complement the findings from your quantitative analyses
Include both quantitative and qualitative findings in your narrative summaries and interpretation of results
Attach your detailed qualitative analysis as an appendix.
Each student must submit a written report that includes the following:
Title page and abstract
Report with introduction, methods, results and discussion
Appendix
All students will produce similar reports in terms of structure and format.
An abridged version of The National Survey of Australian Secondary Students and Sexual Health 2013 (NSASSH) is available in the Assessment 2 folder on the PHE2AHR LMS site. Students will need to access this report to complete the assessment and will need to use different chapters to complete their report satisfactorily.
