• You are to start the first paragraph of your essay with “This essay will be arguing FOR/AGAINST [delete as applicable] the following proposition: [insert as appropriate].”
• Having set out the focus of your essay (as above), you should then provide a short summary of the key points of your argument (max 5/6 points) in your first paragraph.
• Your essay should then develop each of your key points, making appropriate use of authority and explaining how each point supports your argument.
• Your essay should contain a short conclusion drawing your key points together.
