The site is situated between N Broadway St and N Spring St.
N Broadway St touches the buildings site lot (accessible), but N Spring St does not touch the buildings site lot (non accessible). N Broadway St has slower car transit condition compare to faster car transit condition of N Spring St.
thus, I oriented more porous and lighter feel side of building to face N Broadway St (allowing west-north facing of diffusing daylight and sunset and less porous and heavier side of building to face N Spring St (allowing East-south facing of direct daylight and sunrise) in order to reflect the sites geometry and street condition.
Buildings is situated further back from the street to create big opening public park space where the building seems as if it sucks the adjacent street conditions
axonometric
in-terms of the massing, the porosity caused by the spacing between the units reflects the both visual and spatial condition of small alleyways of gaps between buildings of Chinatown, and also geometry of opening of building reflects many of zagged characteristics of boundary geometry of surrounding buildings. The massing sectionally connects the planimetric condition of the site.

typical plan reveals composition of non-rotated and rotated units and also small outdoor openings of communal space. atypical plan reveals big outdoor public space that are planimetrically layered and networked by stair cases.

typical section reveals the geometric logics of how unit interlocks to create structural rigidity and height of building. atypical section reveals the chunks that seems hovering in the air which is actually supported by below units that are behind and before the cut line of the section.
elevation
for the exterior cladding, iodized metals were selected. Gradation of different colors visually regroups each unit, blurring and confusing the geometric reading of each clusters, misleading of reading of each cluster, which helps to amplify the effect of exterior pattern where the repetition of units and clusters are hard to tell. For the exterior windows walls, colored glass were selected in order to visually not disrupt the effect of exterior cladding.
